It’s hard to believe that we are just weeks (or days) away from the Thanksgiving Day holiday. It seems like we were just talking about New Year’s resolutions a couple of months ago. Right?
Many people love Thanksgiving Day for various reasons. Family gatherings and great food are often at the peak of anticipation. The season itself also tends to bring a certain comfort… the changing of green leaves to brown hues and the drop in temperature that invites overcoats and warm hugs.
Beyond the comfort of food and family, there is something life-changing and mind-altering about the very nature of giving thanks. As I’ve stated before and you probably already know… gratitude can change your attitude. It is the secret sauce of contentment and the remedy for complaining. Giving thanks takes your mind off your needs and greeds. Giving thanks helps you focus on things that are true and lovely and praiseworthy.
We take so many little things for granted in our pursuit of big blessings and great miracles. So as we countdown to the big day, I invite you to take a thanksgiving challenge. Every day between now and Thanksgiving Day, identify one thing for which you are thankful. It can be practical or spiritual, light-hearted or deep. You can even keep your list going for the entire month of November! If you care to share your daily note, add it to the comments below or hit reply if you are viewing this post in email mode.
I will also post one thing each day for which I am thankful. Are you ready? Here we go!
