We live in a day and age where there’s a lot of talk about love and everyone has an opinion about what real love is. Sadly, many are willing to define it but few are willing to display it. However, this is not the case with God, who Himself is love.

John 15:13 says “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” This is the definition of real love, great love. But He not only defined it, He demonstrated it. According to Romans 5:8, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

We did not deserve it or earn it or even ask for it. But God initiated it. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

That’s why we celebrate Easter. We celebrate His love that sent His Son to Calvary for us… the whoevers. That same love hung Him on the cross and died for us… the whoevers. That same love rose again for us… the whoevers. That same love has given new life, eternal life to us… the whoevers. Jesus still lives and still demonstrates that great love for us…the whoevers.

That’s why we celebrate! That’s why we sing! There is no greater love!
